About this opportunity

The City of Ocala Electric Utility is requesting quotations for grinder pump installation and force main connection at Shaw Substation under RFQ ELE/260651, with bids due May 13, 2026. Bidders must hold a current Florida Plumbing Contractor license and possess a minimum of five years' experience installing grinder pump systems and force main piping.

The scope is installation of a complete 1 HP grinder pump station (either E/One or Liberty Pumps PRG Series) with excavation and placement of wet well station and control panel, 2-inch PVC force-main service piping at 3-foot depth approximately 80 feet in length connecting to the City's new sewer lateral, and all associated materials, labor, and permitting to convert the control house from its existing drain field system to the municipal sewer connection. The contractor must complete work within 90 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, perform a minimum of 30% of work with own forces, maintain a one-year warranty on materials and labor, and deliver pressure testing, functional testing, test reports, and equipment documentation. The City is responsible for arranging the force main extension; the contractor connects the control house to that extension. An optional line item for abandonment and complete removal of the existing septic tank is available but not mandatory.

Bids will be submitted on a lump sum basis with award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Only the primary installation item (Item #1) is scored; the optional septic tank removal item does not affect award. Required insurance includes Commercial General Liability of $1 million per occurrence / $2 million aggregate, Commercial Automotive Liability of $1 million combined limit, and Workers' Compensation per Florida statutory requirements. Work must occur during standard hours, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding City observed holidays. Monthly invoicing is required to 1805 NE 30th Ave. Bldg. 400, Ocala, FL 34470, with payments subject to offset for delinquent amounts owed to the City. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held April 29, 2026, at Shaw Substation. Addendum 2 (issued May 1, 2026) clarified force main specifications (2" PVC at 3" depth) and added the optional septic tank removal line item.
