About this opportunity

The Mercer County Park Commission, in partnership with the City of Trenton, is seeking a qualified contractor to furnish, deliver, and plant native trees in Cadwalader Park through a competitive procurement process (Bid No. AB2025-41). The project involves supplying and installing up to 120 native trees with 2"-3" caliper, including various oak, maple, and hickory species, sourced from nurseries within 100 miles of the project location. Bidders must demonstrate at least three years of landscape planting experience and provide three professional references, along with a comprehensive list of nursery inventories. The procurement requires strict compliance with ANSI A300 and ANSI Z60.2-2025 standards, and contractors will be responsible for installing wooden stakes, tree watering bags, and deer protection netting at designated planting sites. Proposals are due on November 6, 2025, at 11:30 A.M. through BidNet Direct's electronic platform, with a contract period of 90 calendar days from the formal notice to proceed. Planting is scheduled to occur between November 1 and April 1, with contractors expected to follow specific planting and maintenance guidelines.

The project is funded through a Federal Domestic Matching Grant (Grant No. 22-DG-11094200-198) from the USDA Forest Service Eastern Region State and Private Forestry, administered under the Uniform Shared Services and Consolidation Act. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned, the procurement appears to be open to qualified landscape and tree planting contractors with demonstrated expertise. The cost proposal includes unit pricing for tree species, hardwood stakes, tree watering bags, and tree guards, suggesting potential contract values that would cover materials and labor for the comprehensive tree planting initiative. Contractors will be required to replace any trees deemed unsatisfactory and adhere to strict installation and maintenance protocols. The collaborative nature of the project, involving both the Mercer County Park Commission and the City of Trenton, indicates a comprehensive approach to urban forestry and park improvement through native tree restoration.
