About this opportunity

The City of Tucson, located in Pima County, Arizona, is seeking to establish an annual requirements contract for fire hydrants and hydrant repair parts through Tucson Water. The procurement specifically requires Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) fire hydrants and repair components, with no substitutions permitted. Deliverables include fire hydrants to be delivered to various City of Tucson Water department storerooms, with the agency having historically purchased approximately $150,000 in fire hydrants over the past 12 months. The technical specifications mandate that all fire hydrants must comply with AWWA C502 standards, be designed for 150 pounds per square inch working pressure, and feature specific design elements such as compression-type shutoff, mechanically restrained inlet connections, and double O-ring seals. The contract requires hydrants to have specific nozzle configurations, stem lubrication, and be painted in aluminum/silver industrial enamel. The solicitation indicates a due date of March 14, 2024, with the city reserving the right to award by group. Following the initial contract period, warrantied parts must be supplied for a minimum of two years after the initial warranty period.

The solicitation documents do not explicitly indicate specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations. However, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Terms and Conditions document suggests potential compliance requirements related to disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) participation and anti-discrimination policies. While no incumbent vendors are specifically listed, the Approved Materials List provides guidance on acceptable manufacturers for fire hydrants and related infrastructure components. The contract allows for potential integration with existing Tucson Water infrastructure, with strict requirements that all materials must be new and meet the department's precise technical specifications. The potential award value is suggested by the historical purchasing data of $150,000 over 12 months, though the exact budget range is not definitively stated. Contractors must be prepared to provide comprehensive documentation, including detailed product submissions that align with Tucson Water's extensive technical requirements and adhere to the approved materials list.
