About this opportunity
Brevard County Purchasing Services is soliciting bids for fire extinguisher inspection, recharging, hydrostatic testing, and replacement services covering an estimated 3,000 extinguishers countywide under ITB B-2-26-41, with bids due August 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
The contractor must hold a Division of State Fire Marshal Fire Equipment Dealer License (Florida Statutes Chapter 633 and FAC Chapter 69A-21) and a Class "A" Facility License for hydrostatic testing, both valid throughout the contract term. These certifications are non-negotiable capability filters.
Services include annual inspections performed to NFPA 10 standards, six-year maintenance and recharge for stored-pressure extinguishers, hydrostatic testing (required every 5 or 12 years depending on cylinder type), certification and tagging, replacement of condemned units, and computerized inventory management. Fire extinguisher types span ABC, foam, clean agent/Halotron, CO2, Class D, water, K Guard, and Purple K in sizes from 2.5 pounds to 30 pounds. Response-time requirements are three business days for non-emergency service and twenty-four hours for emergencies. Contractor pricing must be firm per-unit costs on a FOB Destination basis to any point within the county, including all labor, travel, equipment, parts, disposal, and recharge costs.
The contract term is five years from award, with pricing adjustments considered only after twelve months and requiring written justification. All pricing remains firm for ninety days from the opening date. The contractor must maintain General Liability Insurance and Auto Liability Insurance each with a $1,000,000 combined single limit and Workers' Compensation insurance as required by law.
Questions are due August 11, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Brevard County is exempt from Federal excise taxes and sales taxes and reserves the right to reject any and all bids, award by individual items or groups of items, or cancel the contract upon due cause.
