About this file

This is Addendum 2 to an Invitation to Bid issued by Brevard County Purchasing Services for fire extinguisher services countywide under solicitation B-2-26-41. The addendum provides clarifications to ten questions submitted by prospective bidders regarding inspection scheduling, service call charges, contractor capabilities, and operational requirements. The majority of fire extinguisher inspections are due between January and April, allowing bidders to estimate labor allocation across inspection runs. The bid package includes an estimated 3,000 extinguishers countywide, with approximately 200 vehicle extinguishers included in this total count. Services encompass inspection, recharging, hydrostatic testing, and replacement of fire extinguishers of various types. The original bid opening date and time remains Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with all other terms and conditions unchanged from the original solicitation.

Key operational clarifications include that trip charges are permissible for service calls but not for missed appointments, with minor repairs treated as service calls subject to pricing on the bid's price sheet. Fire suppression system inspections and hood cleaning services are excluded from this contract and are solicited separately. The County will provide an updated list of locations and site contacts to the awarded contractor and will supply information regarding escort requirements for secured or restricted areas. All inspections must be completed during normal business hours. Contractors may substitute like-for-like extinguisher models and should reference the Invitation to Bid for additional details on replacement and loaner extinguisher procedures. The County exempts itself from Federal excise taxes and sales taxes and reserves the right to reject any and all bids or cancel the contract upon due cause.

ADDENDUM 2

TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS

This is an Addendum to and shall be considered as part of the original bid package for the above-mentioned bid. Please acknowledge receipt of Addendum 2 in space provided on Price Sheet. Bidders are requested to acknowledge receipt of this addendum with their bid.

CLARIFICATION TO QUESTIONS RECEIVED:

Question 1: Addendum 1 was very useful, but doesn’t quite help us with figuring out when each location is due for inspection. Knowing what months the inspections would be due can help us figure how we can price out the inspections. For example, if we know half of the locations are due in one month, and the half in another, then we can loosely figure how much time will go into each inspection run.

Answer 1: The large majority are due for inspection between January and April.

Question 2: Can we receive a copy of the current bid?

Answer 2: Yes, please view B-7-21-86 Inv and Spec Expiring.pdf.

Question 3: Will you allow us to swap like to like extinguishers?

Answer 3: Yes, please refer to the Invitation to Bid, Page 15, Section 8 – Replacement and loaner extinguisher.

Question 4: Does this bid include Fire Suppression System Inspection and/or Hood Cleaning Inspections on Hood Systems? I know in the previous agreement it was included.

Answer 4: No. Those services are on another County bid.

Question 5: Can the County provide updated list of locations with appropriate site contacts for scheduling and approval of work?

Answer 5: Yes, the County will provide an updated list of locations and site contacts to the awarded Contractor.

Question 6: Can the contractor include trip charges for Service Calls? Missed Appointments?

Answer 6: For Services Calls, please see Price Sheet. For Missed Appointments, no.

Question 7: What rate should be used for minor repairs such as replacing bad gauges, broken handles, damaged hoses, etc.?

Answer 7: The County would treat minor repairs as Service Calls. Please see Price Sheet.

Question 8: Does the contractor need escorts to service the county locations? If so, which locations?

Answer 8: Please refer to the Invitation to Bid, Page 16, Section 11 – Secured/Restricted Areas, for information regarding escort requirements and applicable county locations.

Question 9: Are you able to provide a list of when annual inspections are due for each location?

Answer 9: Please see the response to Question 1.

Question 10: Are any inspections at buildings or vehicles required to be performed outside of normal business hours?

Answer 10: No.

Question 11: For the vehicle extinguishers, is the approximation of 200 included with the total count of 3,000?

Answer 11: Yes.

*Please note that the bid opening date and time remains Friday, August 21, 2026 @ 10:00 AM* *All other terms and conditions remain unchanged*

END OF ADDENDUM 2
