About this opportunity
Greenville Public Schools (Michigan) is requesting sealed bids for fire alarm system upgrades at three elementary schools with bids due October 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., and mandatory pre-bid walk-throughs scheduled for October 15, 2026. This is not a prevailing wage project.
The scope encompasses complete replacement of existing fire alarm infrastructure with new voice-capable, addressable fire alarm systems at Cedar Crest Elementary (622 S Cedar St), Walnut Hills Elementary (712 N Walnut St), and Baldwin Heights Elementary (821 W Oak St). Work includes demolition of existing electrical and fire alarm systems, installation of smoke detectors, heat detectors, duct detectors, door hold-open devices, manual pull stations, notification appliances (strobes and speakers), new fire alarm control panels, low-voltage conduit and wiring per Michigan Electrical Code and NFPA 72 standards, and comprehensive closeout documentation. Electrical trade contractors only are eligible. Bidders must have at least ten years of experience under their current company name, be licensed and insured in Michigan, and demonstrate adequate financial resources.
Work will be executed in three phases during successive summer breaks: Cedar Crest (June 5–August 9, 2027), Walnut Hills (June 3–August 7, 2028), and Baldwin Heights (June 2–August 6, 2029). Kingscott Associates serves as architect and engineer; Fritz Wahlfield Construction is the construction manager.
All bids require a 5% bid bond, a sworn and notarized familial disclosure statement, and an Iran Sanctions Act compliance affidavit. Successful bidders must provide a Performance, Labor, and Material Bond for 100% of contract cost. Insurance must include $1,000,000 Commercial General Liability, $1,000,000 Business Automobile Liability, and Workers' Compensation with the Construction Manager and Owner as additional insureds. Contractors bear all permit costs and inspections; additional work incurs a 10% contractor fee or 5% subcontractor fee; deleted work receives 100% credit. Bid validity is 60 days from opening.
Requests for Information are due October 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Mandatory post-bid interviews are scheduled for October 30, 2026. Bidding documents are available through Fritz Wahlfield Construction Co. via Procore and the West Michigan Builders Exchange (616-949-8650).
