The role requires an Illinois-licensed physician with American Board of Medical Specialties Certification (or equivalent) in Psychiatry, a minimum of three years of substantive medical administrative experience in directing, planning, and evaluating medical or clinical programs, and demonstrated ability to supervise multiple professional disciplines. The Medical Director will work under the administrative direction of Choate Center's facility director, with routine work hours of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and must be available by phone outside scheduled hours. The candidate must provide their own malpractice insurance, transportation, lodging, and healthcare coverage, with all such costs included in the all-inclusive hourly rate.

The initial contract term runs from the last dated signature through June 30, 2029, with two renewal options available through June 30, 2031, with a maximum total contract term not exceeding ten years. Payment will be made in accordance with the State Prompt Payment Act; invoices must be submitted weekly to Choate Center's Business Office. The contract is contingent upon availability of funds and subject to termination if appropriations are insufficient or if the Governor decreases the Agency's funding. No subcontractor utilization is anticipated.

Bids must remain firm for 90 days from opening. The state will award to the lowest priced responsive and responsible bidder. No bid bond or performance bond is required. Vendors must submit required documents including vendor disclosures, an offer to the state, a contract, and a resume through BidBuy.
