About this opportunity
Anchor Bay School District (Michigan) is requesting sealed bids for chillers, chilled water pumps, and rooftop unit (RTU) equipment installation across three school buildings, with bids due September 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. and a pre-bid walkthrough scheduled for August 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
The scope covers replacement of existing chillers and chilled water pumps with high-efficiency units at Middle School North, Middle School South, and Great Oaks Elementary School; rooftop equipment replacements for 17 individual RTUs across the two middle schools; and associated air-handling unit upgrades. Acceptable chiller manufacturers include Daikin, Trane, Johnson Controls, or Bell & Gossett. The work includes demolition of existing equipment, installation of variable frequency drives, building automation system integration, testing and balancing, and functional performance validation with as-built documentation and trend logs. Contractors must visit the site before submitting proposals. A one-year warranty covering defects in equipment, material, and workmanship is required from date of substantial completion. Operation and maintenance instructional manuals must be provided in PDF format with a minimum of 24 hours of formal instruction to owner personnel per building.
Prevailing wage rates under Michigan's Prevailing Wage for State Projects Act (effective February 13, 2024) apply to all work. Bidders must submit proposals in duplicate with a 2.5 percent bid bond, proof of comparable experience on similar projects completed within the last five years, a subcontractor list, Iran Economic Sanctions Act certification, and a familial disclosure form complying with Michigan law. The awarded contractor must provide payment and performance bonds covering the full proposal amount and maintain minimum liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate, plus workers' compensation and automobile liability coverage. No bid withdrawals are permitted for 45 calendar days after bid opening. Equipment manufacturer substitution requests must be submitted to Centrix Energy Partners, the Construction Manager, at todd.kananen@centrix-partners.com or 517-294-5386 at least seven days prior to bid opening. The Notice to Proceed is anticipated after the October 1, 2026, Board meeting, with construction commencing by February 1, 2027, and substantial completion targeted for April 30, 2027. Questions are due August 31, 2026. Peter Basso Associates is the design firm. The District reserves the right to waive irregularities, reject any or all proposals, and award components individually or in groups.
