About this opportunity
Byron Center Public Schools is procuring construction services for the BP-3C project, a new intermediate school building as part of the 2020 Bond program, with oversight managed by Owen-Ames-Kimball (O-A-K). This represents the final bid package in a three-package series and encompasses the balance of construction trades in bid categories 05 through 44. Sealed bids in triplicate must be submitted by May 26, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to the O-A-K office located at 300 Ionia Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. A virtual pre-construction meeting via Zoom is scheduled for May 15, 2021, at 1:30 p.m., with attendance strongly encouraged for all potential bidders. Pre-bid Requests for Information must be submitted to Dave Fleece by May 17, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. Bidders must demonstrate at least five years of successful experience on similar projects, maintain all appropriate licenses as required by the jurisdiction, and possess adequate financial resources to complete the work. Each bid submission must include a Familial Disclosure Statement as required by Michigan's Revised School Code Section 1267 and be accompanied by bid security or a bid bond in an amount not less than 5 percent of the total bid amount.
The successful bidder will be required to provide Performance, Labor, and Material bonds from a surety company with a minimum rating of A- or better for all contracts exceeding $50,000. Bid documents are expected to be available beginning May 6, 2021, and can be examined at the O-A-K website or various Builders Exchange plan rooms throughout Michigan. Bids may be hand-delivered or mailed but cannot be submitted via fax or email. Bid securities will not be released or returned until the hold-firm date is reached or when a subcontract is successfully executed, whichever occurs first. The procurement documents do not specify set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises, incumbent vendors, or specific award values or budget ranges; interested bidders should contact the procuring entity directly for additional financial and scope details.
