About this opportunity
The Jordan School District (JSD) is seeking qualified contractors to relocate the west utility transformer at Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah. This Invitation for Bid (IFB) requires contractors to disconnect and remove existing service feeders, demolish the current transformer pad, and coordinate with Rocky Mountain Power to re-route the primary feed and install new service feeders into the main electrical switchgear. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (MST) at Bingham High School, with attendance required for all bidders. Questions must be submitted by January 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (MST) through the U3P Bonfire website, and bid responses are due by Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (MST), to be submitted exclusively through the U3P Bonfire platform. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder meeting all specifications, with site work potentially commencing as early as June 9, 2026, and substantial completion required by August 7, 2026.
The solicitation includes several key restrictions and requirements for potential bidders. Contractors must submit a bid bond equal to five percent of the total bid price from a corporate surety licensed in Utah, and upon award, must execute performance and payment bonds covering 100% of the contract price. Vendors are required to certify they are not engaged in any economic boycotts as defined under Utah Code 63G-27, including boycotts of Israel, traditional energy companies, firearms manufacturers, or companies not meeting specific environmental or medical access standards. Contractors must maintain comprehensive insurance coverage, including general and auto liability insurance of one million dollars per occurrence and five million dollars aggregate, along with Workers' Compensation insurance. While no specific set-aside designations are mentioned, the project includes a $20,000 construction contingency allowance. Liquidated damages are established at one thousand dollars per calendar day for missed deadlines, and monthly progress payments will be made with five percent retained until final project completion and inspection. The total project budget is not explicitly stated, but the comprehensive requirements suggest a significant electrical infrastructure investment for the Jordan School District.
