About this opportunity
The City of Peachtree City, Georgia is installing a pedestrian hybrid beacon and path crossing with striping on North Peachtree Parkway at Kedron Boat Ramp (Project 23-105BPW), with bids due February 21, 2023. Three bids were received; SOL Construction, LLC was recommended for award at $285,000, the lowest responsive bid, with funding from Impact Fee Fund 329.
The scope encompasses pedestrian hybrid beacon infrastructure, path crossing installation, and striping. The contractor must provide traffic control throughout the approximately six-month project duration per MUTCD requirements, with two message boards required only during the seven days prior to signal activation. Substantial completion is six months from Notice to Proceed, accounting for mast arm approval and delivery lead times. The contractor must construct a metal rack of 2-inch square perforated metal tubing to mount meter cans and disconnects for both pedestrian signal and street light equipment, with separate conduit in mast arms for wiring separation. Sandblasting is required for existing striping eradication. Stormwater management includes inspection and maintenance of all best management practices shown on plans at all times and after every rain event per erosion control plans; water quality inspections and seven-day design engineer testing have been waived due to the disturbed area being less than one acre.
Work follows Georgia Department of Transportation standards and details. The contractor assumes responsibility for all construction means and methods, worker safety, utility coordination, debris removal and disposal at approved facilities, and restoration of damaged property at no additional cost. No separate utility locate survey was performed; the contractor must notify all utilities and verify horizontal and vertical locations of all facilities prior to construction. Testing requirements and payment are specified in Section 01 45 29 as a cash allowance. Addendum #1 clarifies that bidder qualifications may include experience from experienced individuals working for the firm overseeing the project.
