About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Design and Construction, is procuring construction services for the Big Shoals State Park Trail Bridge Replacement project under Bid No. BDC17-25/26 in Leon County, Florida. This procurement is being issued as Addendum #1 to the original solicitation and requires contractors to acknowledge receipt of the addendum by obtaining the signature of an authorized representative and including the signed document with their bid submission. The primary deliverable involves the replacement of a trail bridge at Big Shoals State Park, with critical specifications addressing the treatment and material composition of glulam beams used in the project. A key clarification in this addendum permits contractors to substitute DCOI (Didecyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride) ground contact rating treatment for CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) treatment on all glulam components, provided the arsenic-free alternative meets specified retention levels and penetration requirements for the service environment. Contractors must verify treatment certifications to confirm the exact preservative system, retention level, and applicable standards, as performance is contingent upon proper penetration and retention achievement combined with correct installation practices. All sealed bids must be submitted to Brandon Williams, Contracts Specialist, Bureau of Design and Construction, 3800 Commonwealth Blvd., MS #520, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-3000, with a deadline of March 3, 2026. Failure to include the signed addendum with the bid submission may result in automatic bid rejection.
The available documents do not specify set-aside designations, disadvantaged business enterprise requirements, incumbent vendors, or current contractor information for this procurement. Similarly, no explicit budget range or award value is disclosed in the addendum materials provided. Contractors responding to this opportunity should note that all other terms, conditions, specifications, and drawings from the original contract documents remain in full force and effect, and they should review the complete solicitation package to understand all technical requirements, bonding obligations, insurance requirements, and other standard procurement conditions. The evaluation criteria and any preferences for veteran-owned, minority-owned, or women-owned businesses, if applicable, would be detailed in the primary bid documents rather than in this addendum. Interested parties should contact the Bureau of Design and Construction directly to obtain the complete project specifications, drawings, and bidding instructions necessary to prepare a compliant and competitive proposal.
