About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health is soliciting applications for Dissemination and Implementation Research in Health (R03 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) with a due date of January 7, 2028. This FOA supports studies identifying, developing, and testing strategies for overcoming barriers to adoption, adaptation, integration, scale-up, and sustainability of evidence-based interventions, practices, programs, tools, treatments, guidelines, and policies. Studies promoting equitable dissemination and implementation among underrepresented communities are encouraged, as are investigations of de-implementation circumstances—understanding when to stop or reduce use of practices that are ineffective, unproven, low-value, or harmful. Research advancing dissemination and implementation methodology and measurement is also solicited.

Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public and private), tribal governments (federally recognized and non-federally recognized tribal organizations), city and county governments, state governments, special district governments, public or Indian housing authorities, independent school districts, 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, for-profit organizations, small businesses, and other entity types. Additional eligible applicants include faith-based and community-based organizations, HBCUs, Hispanic-serving institutions, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian serving institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institutions, tribally controlled colleges and universities, U.S. territories and possessions, regional organizations, eligible federal agencies, and non-domestic entities.

Applications must fall within the mission scope of one of the participating NIH Institutes or Centers. The funding opportunity is assigned to multiple parent grant programs including Trans-NIH Research Support (CFDA 93.310), Mental Health Research Grants (CFDA 93.242), Alcohol Research Programs (CFDA 93.273), Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279), Environmental Health (CFDA 93.113), Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research (CFDA 93.865), Oral Diseases and Disorders Research (CFDA 93.121), Cancer Control (CFDA 93.399), Extramural Research Programs in the Neurosciences and Neurological Disorders (CFDA 93.853), International Research and Research Training (CFDA 93.989), Human Genome Research (CFDA 93.172), and Aging Research (CFDA 93.866).
