About this opportunity
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking a contractor to upgrade the existing analog Southwest Microwave system at its Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas to a digital high-security volumetric perimeter detection system. The project requires removing and disposing of existing analog sensors and installing new triple-stacked bi-static microwave sensors covering approximately 5,700 linear feet across 20 zones. The system must integrate with Hirsch Velocity and Milestone Xprotect Corporate systems, and the contractor must be factory certified by Southwest Microwave for installation. The government will evaluate proposals on a best value basis, with technical capability and delivery timing significantly more important than contractor qualifications, past performance, and price. Key dates include a proposal deadline of March 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM CST, with questions due by January 29, 2025.
The solicitation is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS code 561621 for Security Systems Services, with a firm-fixed-price contract and a 180-day period of performance from notice to proceed. The place of performance is located in Saginaw, Texas, with the contractor required to provide all personnel, equipment, materials, and supervision necessary for the installation. The contractor must provide a 5-year product warranty and 1-year installation warranty, with technical support and spare parts availability guaranteed for a minimum of 15 years. The system specifications include detecting 35kg human intruders with 99% probability at 95% confidence, operating in temperatures from -40C to +66C, and incorporating advanced EMI/RFI shielding. While no specific award value is disclosed, the comprehensive technical requirements suggest a complex and potentially significant investment in security infrastructure for the Western Currency Facility.
