About this opportunity

The U.S. Air Force Academy is seeking to procure one Infrared Single Frequency Laser System through a combined synopsis and solicitation (FA700025Q0101) that has undergone multiple amendments, with the most recent Amendment 4 posted on September 3, 2025. The technical specifications require a single frequency tunable single mode laser system that operates continuously wave with all solid state and/or fiber laser technology, producing laser output in the 515-660 nanometer range with at least 25 milliwatts of power output across the entire range. Additional requirements include a laser linewidth less than 150 kHz, single mode continuous scan range of at least 20 GHz, intensity noise less than 0.4% RMS over 10 kHz to 10 MHz band, and an integrated pick-off and fiber launch module for stable wavemeter connection. The procurement will be evaluated on a best value basis considering technical acceptability, price, and past performance factors. The final quote submission deadline is September 8, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. Mountain Daylight Time, with all questions due by September 3, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. MDT.

This solicitation operates under full and open competition with no set-aside designations, targeting businesses within NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees. No incumbent contractors or potential award values are specified in the available documentation, though the procurement structure includes four separate Contract Line-Item Numbers covering the laser system, shipping, installation, and training components under firm-fixed-price arrangements. The contractor must supply all labor, materials, freight, equipment, and supervision necessary for complete installation and ensure the product is fully operational upon delivery. Performance will occur at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado 80840, with F.O.B. Destination delivery terms. Notably, funds are not currently available for this procurement, and the government reserves the right to cancel the solicitation either before or after the closing date without reimbursing vendor costs for proposal preparation.
