About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) with reference number FA700025Q0101 seeks details about an Infrared Ti: Sapphire Single Frequency Laser System for government experimental use. The document contains four key queries and corresponding government responses regarding the laser system's technical specifications, including wavelength range (650-1100nm), single frequency pump laser characteristics, and installation requirements. The government emphasizes that vendors must provide a complete and operable product, with specific focus on the final tuning range and noise characteristics being more critical than individual component specifications. The primary objective is to acquire a laser system that can fill gaps in the government's current laser capabilities and support various experimental applications.

Request for Information Responses: FA700025Q0101 Infrared Ti: Sapphire Single Frequency Laser System
1. Can you tell me about the application and the importance of the tuning range?
RESPONSE: The Government intends to use this laser in a variety of experiments and the specified wavelength range fills gaps using our present lasers.
2. Ti: Sapphire Laser wavelength range 650-1100nm
a. This is wider than the tuning range of Ti:S. Is the requestor prioritizing a source that can cover the maximum amount of this range with a single optics set?
RESPONSE: The TiS tuning range is not as important as the final tuning range.
3. Single Frequency pump laser
a. Based on the earlier salient characteristics, that have since been updated, a specification for linewidth of 150kHz in the tuning range of 515-650nm was described. This linewidth requirement is no longer present. A single frequency pump laser is not required to meet this specification in the desired tuning range or within the Ti:Sapphire tuning range requested. In addition, the intensity noise specification of 0.4% RMS 10Hz-10MHz can be met without the need for a single frequency pump source.
RESPONSE: This is not as important as final noise in the tuning range.
4. The Contractor shall supply all labor, material, freight/transportation, equipment, and supervisions to install the infrared Ti: Sapphire single frequency laser system in accordance with the following salient characteristics. The contractor is responsible for ensuring the product is complete and usable upon installation to include all appropriate electrical connections.
a. We are able to comply with this requirement, however, we ask the requestor to purchase the mixing laser to be used with the EMM module separately and directly from its manufacturer. Will this be acceptable to the requestor?
RESPONSE: The Government is required to receive a complete and operable product, therefore interested vendors are asked to quote in accordance with the solicitation.
