About this opportunity
The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, on behalf of the Department of Energy, is seeking proposals for the fabrication of Storage Ring Photon Absorbers for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project. Offerors must have experience manufacturing complex UHV chambers and components for particle accelerator applications, as well as the capability to machine CuCrZr using 5-axis CNC and wire erosion machining, and perform CMM inspection. The evaluation criteria will focus on the offeror's technical approach, manufacturing capabilities, and pricing. Proposals are due on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
This solicitation is not set-aside for any specific business size or type. The contract will likely be awarded to a single subcontractor, but the exact value is to be determined. The scope of work includes the fabrication, dimensional inspection, fiducialization, vacuum testing, and delivery of 39 photon absorber units in 7 different variants over a 30-week period after first article approval. The place of performance is in Berkeley, CA.
