About this opportunity
The Department of State, U.S. Embassy Kathmandu, issued Amendment M001 extending the bid submission deadline from August 7, 2026 to August 12, 2026 for supply, installation, and commissioning of an Uninterruptible Power Supply system. The modification revises the Statement of Work due to space constraints, reducing the equipment specification from two 15kVA UPS units in parallel (20kVA total) to one 30kVA Tower UPS unit with internal battery. The original equipment model specification has been updated to provide acceptable alternatives: Eaton 93T 30kVA, APC Easy UPS 3:3 30kVA, or equivalent models that meet or exceed the revised technical specifications.
The UPS system will serve the Chancery Building at the Embassy in Kathmandu, replacing a non-functional 20kVA Riello unit that has been bypassed for over two years. The contractor must complete the entire scope—procurement, installation, and commissioning—within 120 days of award, with equipment delivery targeted at 60 days and installation/commissioning within 30 days thereafter. Work includes pre-installation power quality analysis, site assessment, seismic mounting per Kathmandu region earthquake standards, comprehensive factory and site acceptance testing with battery discharge verification, on-site staff training, and delivery of as-built drawings, warranties (minimum two years on equipment and batteries, one year on installation), and preventive maintenance schedules. Contractor qualifications require UPS manufacturer authorization, minimum five years' experience with paralleled systems, three references from comparable government or institutional projects, factory-trained technicians, adequate insurance, and compliance with U.S. Embassy security clearance and access requirements.
