About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health, specifically the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), issued a Special Notice on October 20, 2026, soliciting preventative maintenance and emergency repair services for three Ion Torrent sequencing instruments with a response deadline of October 28, 2026. The contract is not set-aside and will be awarded as a firm fixed-price purchase order.
The Laboratory of Neurogenetics at NIAAA uses these sequencers—one Ion Chef (SN 242470813), one Ion S5 XL (SN 2772817050213), and one Ion S5 Prime (SN 2773919070236)—to conduct genetic analyses of DNA and RNA samples from human and animal sources to determine genetic contributions to mental health conditions, including alcohol use disorder. Equipment is located at 5625 Fishers Lane.
Scope includes one annual preventative maintenance visit at no charge, full coverage for parts, labor, and travel for unscheduled equipment breakdowns, guaranteed 2-business-day response time for service calls within ThermoFisher's Service Zones 1 and 2 (3-business-day target for other zones), hardware and software updates during annual preventative maintenance, and remote technical support via phone and email. The contract period runs from December 15, 2026, through December 14, 2027. Service will be coordinated through designated points of contact Cheryl Marietta Busbey and Colin Hodgkinson. Training is not included.
Notice text
The laboratory of Neurogenetics conducts genetic analyses of DNA samples to determine the genetic contribution to various mental health conditions including alcohol use disorder. One method used to determine genetic contribution is sequencing of both DNA and RNA from various sources (human and animal blood and/or tissues can be sequenced with the ION Proton sequencing systems). The purpose of this contract is to obtain preventative maintenance and emergency repair service when needed for our ION Sequencing systems including one Chef (SN 242470813) and 2 sequencers: S5XL (SN 2772817050213) and S5 Prime (SN 2773919070236).
