About this opportunity
The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) seeks feedback through a Request for Information (RFI) to inform fiscal year 2027 research focus areas and funding opportunities for its Alzheimer's Research Program (AZRP), with responses due December 4, 2026 at 4:00 PM EST. The notice carries no set-aside. It is not a solicitation, RFP, or RFQ, and no contract will be awarded from it. FY27 funds have not been appropriated as of October 2026, and the CDMRP states that responses do not commit the program to incorporating the feedback into FY27 or future funding opportunities. Appropriations for the AZRP from FY11-26 totaled $228 million.
Respondents submit answers through a SurveyMonkey link (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FY27-AZRP-RFI). The government states it cannot protect proprietary or sensitive information submitted through SurveyMonkey, and it will not return responses. Questions go to Jared D. Acre at jared.d.acre.civ@health.mil.
The RFI covers three strategic goals: understanding risk factors to reduce and prevent Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD), improving early and accurate diagnosis and prognosis, and improving quality of life for people living with AD/ADRD, including care partners and families. Respondents rate research gaps on a four-point scale (fully addressed, moderate gap, major gap, or critical gap) across 14 topics. Those topics include risk factor identification, prevention strategies, differential risk pathways in vulnerable populations, biomarker validation in Veterans under 65, digital biomarker development, and care partner support interventions. The RFI also asks respondents to identify the most urgent research pipeline stage for funding and to name one critical overlooked research topic. The AZRP's focus areas include Alzheimer's and related dementias associated with traumatic brain injury, military service, and diverse risk factors. The notice is classified under NAICS 541714.
