About this file

This file is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) to gather stakeholder feedback for strategic planning of the Fiscal Year 2027 Alzheimer's Research Program (AZRP). The RFI explicitly disclaims that it does not constitute a solicitation, will not result in binding contracts, and responses will not be accepted as offers. Responses must be submitted via SurveyMonkey by 4:00 PM EST on December 4, 2026, directed to Jared D. Acre at jared.d.acre.civ@health.mil. The government cautions that proprietary or sensitive information cannot be protected when submitted through SurveyMonkey and will not be returned to respondents.

The RFI solicits feedback across three primary strategic goals: (1) understanding risk factors to reduce and prevent Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD); (2) improving availability of early and accurate diagnosis and prognosis; and (3) improving quality of life for people living with AD/ADRD diagnoses, including care partners and families. Respondents are asked to rate research gaps on a four-point scale (fully addressed, moderate gap, major gap, or critical gap) across 14 specific research topics, including risk factor identification, prevention strategies, differential risk pathways in vulnerable populations, biomarker validation in Veterans under 65, digital biomarker development, and care partner support interventions. The RFI also requests respondents to identify the most urgent research pipeline stage for funding and name one critical overlooked research topic. The CDMRP seeks input from academia, industry, non-profit organizations, federal agencies, healthcare providers, individuals with lived experience, and the general public. Although $228 million has been appropriated for the AZRP from FY11-26, FY27 funds have not yet been appropriated as of the RFI issuance.

Interested parties shall not submit proprietary/sensitive information through Survey Monkey. Responses to this RFI will not be returned. At this time, questions concerning the composition and requirements for a future RFP will not be entertained.

PURPOSE: The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) seeks feedback to inform the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) Alzheimer’s Research Program (AZRP) research focus areas and associated research funding opportunities.

Although FY27 federal funds have not yet been appropriated, the AZRP is collecting this information solely to support strategic program planning. This inquiry does not commit the program to incorporating this feedback into FY27 or any future AZRP funding opportunities. The CDMRP wants to hear from all audiences, interested parties, and individuals from academia, industry, community and non-profit organizations, scientific and professional organizations, federal agencies, and the public.

This RFI should not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of the AZRP or the Department of War.

CONTACT INFORMATION: Any and all questions related to this RFI shall be directed to Jared D. Acre at jared.d.acre.civ@health.mil.
