About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) for solid-state power amplifiers (SSPA) operating in the 44 GHz band. The USAF is interested in acquiring ruggedized SSPA solutions for ground-fixed, ground-transportable, and airborne communication applications, with a focus on lowering life cycle costs while maintaining high reliability, maintainability, and availability. Respondents are requested to provide detailed technical information, manufacturing readiness, performance characteristics, schedules, and cost estimates for available or in-development SSPA products. Responses to this RFI are due by September 23, 2024 and will be used to inform future acquisition decisions, but no award will result from this RFI.
This RFI is not designated for any set-aside categories. The USAF anticipates procuring approximately 120-150 production SSPAs beginning in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, with potential for additional quantities in the future. The RFI does not provide any information on potential incumbent contractors or specific award values, but indicates this is an early stage market research effort to support the USAF's acquisition planning.
