About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) for a Solid-State Power Amplifier (SSPA). The RFI is part of market research being conducted by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command. The key details are:
The government is interested in SSPAs with a frequency hopping bandwidth of 2 GHz, operating in the 43.5 GHz to 45.5 GHz range. Both continuous wave (CW) and pulsed operation are applicable, with a requirement for at least 40 dB of RF blanking. While the government has specified size and weight requirements, respondents can provide information on SSPAs that do not meet those exact dimensions. Responses to this RFI are due by 4:00 PM EDT on September 23, 2024, and should be submitted by email to the Contracting Officer and Contract Specialist. This RFI is for market research purposes only and does not commit the government to a future acquisition.

Solid-State Power Amplifier Request for Information
Question and Answer
1. Need to know what the bandwidth around 44GHz is needed? +/- 100MHz? or +/- 500MHz, etc.?
a. Government Response: 2 GHz frequency hopping bandwidth
2. What is the bandwidth of interest?
a. Government Response: 43.5 GHz – 45.5 GHz
3. Need to know if there could be relief regarding the size and weight.
a. Government Response: The intent of the RFI is to conduct market research and gain information on solid-state power amplifiers specified in the RFI. While the Government is looking to understand if industry can meet the solid-state power amplifier requirements specified in the RFI, respondents can identify if they do not have a product that meets the requirements specified in the RFI and provide the information for solid-state power amplifiers with different size and weight. Please note the Government is not providing relief on any size and weight requirements at this time, as we are only conducting market research.
4. Is the SSPA intended for use in a Pulse or CW application? If pulse, please provide any additional pulse information.
a. Government Response: Both CW and Pulse use are applicable. The need includes
Aperiodic Pulse RF which is dependent on configured and adaptable communications plan. Minimum output power needs to be met over the entire frequency band under all environmental conditions. When RF Blanking is active, RF output power is reduced by at least 40 dB less than the minimum rated power.
