THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE. THIS NOTICE IS ISSUED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION OR INVITATION FOR OFFERORS TO SUBMIT BIDS. A SYNOPIS OF PROPOSED CONTRACT ACTION MAY BE POSTED AT A LATER DATE WHICH WILL PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS FOR BIDDERS TO RESPOND TO THIS OPPORTUNITY.

Please only respond to this sources sought notice if you are interested in submitting a bid and capable of performing the work required to complete the project.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) anticipates the need for a firm-fixed-price contract for a project entitled Repair Façade at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago.

The following brief synopsis does not include all of the work required to complete the project. The project is make repairs on three of the following type of boilers:

  • Superior Boilers Works “Osage” built in 1973.
  • Model: 3-5-1023
  • N’atl Board No.: 6731
  • Serial No.: 6731
  • Heating Surface: 1023 square feet
  • Shell Thickness: 7/16”
  • Head Thickness: 7/16”
  • Max Steam: 15 PSI
  • Max water pressure: 30 PSI
  • Steam Capacity: 7831 LBS/hour
  • Min Valve Capacity: 8184 LBS/hour BTU/hour

The performance period for the project will be 243 calendar days from issuance of the notice to proceed. 

Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36.204, the estimated magnitude of the project lies between $250,000 and $500,000.  (NOTE: This range is one of 8 available ranges from FAR 36.204 and is not meant to imply that the project has necessarily been estimated/budgeted to the maximum of the selected range.  It merely conveys that the estimate/budget lies somewhere within that range.)

The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 238220 with a corresponding small business size standard of $15 million.

Interested parties must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov.

The BOP is seeking small business contractors for this project. Your business size metrics information entered in you SAM registration must be less than or equal to the small business size standard specified above.  Interested small business contractors are requested to respond to this notice by adding their names to the Interested Vendors List for this posting in FedBizOpps.gov (must be logged-in to your account).
