About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 19, has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract to Olympus America Inc. for the service and maintenance of Olympus Urology Scopes at Fort Harrison VA Medical Center. This non-competitive procurement is classified under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC code J065 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Medical Equipment). The contract period runs from December 15, 2025, through December 14, 2026. The VA has determined that Olympus is the only authorized source capable of meeting the government's requirements due to its status as the original equipment manufacturer. This Special Notice was posted on December 18, 2025, and explicitly states that no solicitation will be issued and no responses from other vendors will be considered.
The VA's objective in issuing this sole source notice is to ensure continued compliance with manufacturer standards and maintain equipment warranty integrity by contracting exclusively with the OEM for service, maintenance, parts, and technical support. Olympus holds proprietary rights to the urology scopes and does not authorize third-party vendors to perform maintenance or supply OEM-certified parts, which justifies the sole source determination. The response deadline was December 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM Central Time; however, this notice explicitly states that no competitive responses are being solicited and vendors should not submit proposals. Only the original equipment manufacturer qualifies for this requirement, making this opportunity unavailable to other contractors. All inquiries regarding this procurement should be directed to Mitchael R. Purdom, Contract Officer, at mitchael.purdom@va.gov or 918-348-6483.
