About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically Veterans Integrated Service Network 23, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source firm-fixed-price contract to Natus Sensory INC for audiology equipment maintenance and technical support services. The contract will support the Iowa City VA Healthcare System and is being pursued under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), which allows for non-competitive procurement when only one source can satisfy agency requirements. Market research conducted by the VA determined that Natus Sensory INC is the only company capable of providing comprehensive audiology service, calibration, training, and technical support for the entire Natus/Otometrics product line. The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance and PSC code J065 for Medical Equipment Maintenance and Repair.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors about the VA's intended procurement and provide an opportunity for interested parties to demonstrate alternative capabilities. Contractors interested in participating must submit a capability statement and supporting documentation to Emanuel Nevarez at emanuel.nevarez@va.gov by December 10, 2024. The email should include the solicitation number 36C26325Q0228 in the subject line and can include documentation from Natus Sensory INC confirming the vendor's status as an authorized reseller, dealer, or third-party service provider. While this is not a competitive solicitation, the VA will review submitted capability statements to determine whether the procurement should be conducted on a competitive basis. The final decision to proceed with a sole-source contract remains solely at the discretion of the government. Potential contractors should carefully review the attached Statement of Work, which outlines specific requirements for annual onsite calibration of hearing and balance equipment across the Iowa City VA Healthcare System and its associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
