About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10 (VA VHA VISN 10) has issued a Special Notice for a sole-source contract opportunity involving an Automated Impella Controllers Service Contract. The notice, posted on April 23, 2025, indicates the agency's intent to negotiate directly with Abiomed Inc. under Simplified Acquisition Procedures using FAR 6.302-1 authority. The contract falls under NAICS code 811210 for Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a specific Product Service Code of J065 for medical equipment maintenance and repair. The VA believes Abiomed is the only responsible source capable of meeting their specific equipment service requirements. The solicitation number for this opportunity is 36C25025Q0510.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to communicate the VA's intention to award a sole-source contract to Abiomed Inc. for specialized medical equipment servicing. While this is not a formal solicitation, the VA will consider capability statements or proposals from other sources that can demonstrate clear competitive advantages. Interested contractors must submit their responses via email to Chad Kemper (chad.kemper@va.gov) by 2 PM EST on April 28, 2025. The government emphasizes that no compensation will be provided for submitted information, and the final determination to proceed with a non-competitive award remains entirely at the VA's discretion. Potential respondents should be prepared to provide compelling evidence of their ability to meet the contract requirements. Eligibility is open to any responsible source, though the VA has preliminarily determined that Abiomed is uniquely positioned to fulfill the contract's specific needs.
