About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 is conducting market research for the replacement of three electric steam boilers at the Lee County Veterans Healthcare Center in Cape Coral, Florida. The procurement involves removing existing Sussman Model ESB-180 steel electric steam boilers that have suffered extensive internal corrosion and installing three new Sussman Model SSB-180kW Electric Steam Boilers with stainless steel wetted components. Each new boiler must provide 542 lbs/hr output capacity at 212°F, operate at 80 psi, and run on 460V/3-Phase/60Hz electricity. The replacement is classified as emergent due to risks to life safety, potential operational downtime, and the need to maintain compliance with VA health and safety standards for sterile processing equipment critical to patient care and surgical operations. This sources sought notice is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation, with responses due by October 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.
The procurement is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, with priority consideration for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), followed by Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) and Small Businesses (SB) if insufficient SDVOSB responses are received. Interested vendors must submit capability statements via email to demonstrate their ability to provide the required products and services. The specific requirement calls for three steam boilers to be replaced, with the procurement falling under NAICS code 332410 (Power Boiler and Heat Exchanger Manufacturing) and PSC code J045 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment - Plumbing, Heating, and Waste Disposal Equipment). The contracting office is located in Bay Pines, Florida, and the government file indicates this is a critical infrastructure replacement driven by equipment failure that compromises sterilization processes essential to healthcare operations.
