About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically the Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10, has issued a Special Notice for Boiler Maintenance Services at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center located in Saginaw, Michigan. The notice announces the VA's intent to award a firm fixed price contract directly to Dean Boiler Inc. of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 238220 with a size standard of $19 million and will cover boiler maintenance services for the period of March 31, 2025 through March 30, 2026. The VA is pursuing a sole-source procurement under FAR 6.302.1, which allows for awarding to a single source when no other suppliers can satisfy agency requirements. This determination is based on the specialized nature of the required maintenance services.
Interested contractors have until 12:00 PM Eastern on February 10, 2025, to submit responses to Alexis.Alexander1@va.gov challenging the sole-source determination. To be considered, responses must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government. The contract requires the selected contractor to provide comprehensive boiler maintenance services, including all necessary parts, labor, equipment, materials, and supervision. No solicitation package is available for review, and the government retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete the opportunity. The contract will cover maintenance services for boiler systems at the VA medical center, with the expectation that the contractor will perform all required services in strict accordance with the statement of work, schedules, and contract terms and conditions.
