About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior's National Park Service Pacific West Region is seeking a contractor to install dock slip covers at the Willow Beach Marina within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project involves covering twenty-six boat slips on Dock 3 with a specialized roof structure capable of withstanding 10 pounds per square foot snow load and 115 mph wind load. Contractors must submit a capability and interest statement to bradley_metler@nps.gov by February 7, 2025, indicating their qualifications for this marine construction project. Potential bidders will need to demonstrate technical expertise in marina infrastructure construction, ability to work in sensitive environmental conditions, and compliance with specific material and installation specifications. The Statement of Work requires contractors to undergo desert tortoise awareness training, maintain public launch ramp access, and follow strict equipment cleaning protocols to prevent invasive species spread.
The opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS category 237990 for Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction. The project will require two Notices to Proceed: one for material procurement and another for on-site construction, with a total performance period of 90 days. Contractors must provide all necessary equipment, including boats and barges, and coordinate laydown areas with the Contracting Officer's Representative. The dock cover will utilize 26-gauge MBCI Signature 200 Saddle Tan color roofing over galvalume decking, with specific requirements including a 1-foot overhang, 8-inch vented ridge, and 16-foot eve clearance from water to the lowest structural support. While a specific budget range is not disclosed, the project involves complex marine construction with precise technical specifications that will likely require specialized marine engineering and construction capabilities.
