About this opportunity
The National Park Service, specifically the Pacific West Region, is seeking a contractor to install dock slip covers at the Willow Beach Marina within Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Arizona. The project involves constructing covers for twenty-six marina slips on Dock 3, which was originally extended in 2011, to protect boats from harsh desert environmental conditions. Technical specifications require the covers to be fabricated from high-strength structural steel, capable of withstanding 10 pounds per square foot snow load and 115 miles per hour wind gusts, with a 16-foot eve clearance from water to structural support. The pre-solicitation notice indicates the formal Invitation for Bid (solicitation) will be posted on May 2, 2025, with responses due by May 1, 2025. The contract opportunity is classified under the NAICS category for Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction and the PSC category for Repair or Alteration of Recreation Facilities.
The contract is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, meaning only small businesses can compete for the opportunity. The project specifications call for a roof deck constructed with 26-gauge MBCI Signature 200 Saddle Tan color over galvalume, with a one-foot overhang on all sides, and must include comprehensive components such as anchoring systems, winches, cables, anchor blocks, columns, bracing, column bumpers, and connecting hardware. While specific award value is not detailed in the pre-solicitation notice, the project is scheduled for completion by March 5, 2025, suggesting a relatively compact timeline for implementation. The marina dock extension work dates back to 2011, with an adjacent dock slip cover installed in 2020, indicating this is part of an ongoing infrastructure improvement strategy for the Willow Beach Marina facility. Potential bidders should carefully review the detailed Statement of Work to ensure compliance with the technical and environmental specifications.
