About this opportunity
The Smithsonian Institution seeks proposals for indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity preventive and remedial maintenance services for chillers at multiple facilities, with proposals due July 30, 2026. No set-aside applies; the procurement is open to all businesses regardless of size.
Place of performance encompasses six locations: Washington DC, Suitland Maryland, Front Royal Virginia, Edgewater Maryland, Chantilly Virginia, and New York City. The NAICS code is 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, with a size standard of $45 million. The PSC code is Z1JA, Maintenance of Museums and Exhibition Buildings.
The initial contract period runs for one 12-month base period from award plus four option years. Rates are adjustable only for revisions to prevailing labor rates issued by the U.S. Department of Labor. Either the Smithsonian or the selected contractor may terminate services with 30 days' written notice at any contract expiration date. The Smithsonian reserves the right to renew the resulting contract for nine additional one-year periods.
The work addresses facility-wide preventive and remedial maintenance for chillers from multiple original equipment manufacturers across the Smithsonian's portfolio. A prior solicitation (33330225RF0010044) for this requirement was cancelled due to inadequate bid submissions that failed to address chiller maintenance requirements, response procedures, or demonstrate clear understanding of the scope of work. Contact Christopher Johnson at johnsoncm@si.edu for questions. Supporting documentation includes a chiller inventory, statement of work, Tririga usage guidance, and bid sheet.
