About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is seeking a contractor to provide generator maintenance services for the Canandaigua VA Medical Center located in New York. The requirement encompasses a base year of maintenance services with four additional option years for three specific generators: a 500 KW Cummins, 1 MEG Caterpillar, and a 550 KW Marathon generator. Required services include annual inspections in December, full service maintenance in May, periodic load bank testing, and fuel sample analysis. The contract falls under NAICS code 811310 for Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a small business size standard of $7.5 million. All interested parties must submit capability statements electronically to kyle.pelling2@va.gov by noon EST on February 7, 2025, with the understanding that this is a Request for Information and not a formal solicitation.

No specific set-aside has been designated for this procurement, meaning all responsible sources may submit responses. The maintenance services will be performed during standard business hours (7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday), with any schedule exceptions requiring advance approval from the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). Key service requirements include load bank testing every 36 months for the 500 KW Cummins generator at 30% or greater of its nameplate rating, and comprehensive fuel sample analysis during May servicing. While no specific award value is mentioned, the contract structure indicates a potential five-year service arrangement with predictable annual maintenance cycles. The VA has indicated that if sufficient interest is demonstrated, a formal solicitation will be posted on SAM.gov, signaling potential future competitive bidding for this generator maintenance contract.
