About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (USACE ERDC) is seeking to procure a fast-scanning mirror for integration into a high-altitude airborne lidar sensor at its Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL). The mirror must meet specific technical requirements, including a 6"/150mm round configuration, weight under 1 lb, 1064nm wavelength optimized reflectance, and thermal stability between 0-50C. This procurement will utilize a lowest price technically acceptable evaluation approach, with proposals due by February 13, 2025. The solicitation requires the mirror to support the ELS3D program research activities and must demonstrate precise optical and mechanical performance characteristics, including l/10 wavefront quality and specific stiffness greater than 100 E/r. Vendors must be prepared to provide comprehensive warranty and support coverage for potential system malfunctions.
The solicitation does not include any specific set-aside designations and does not mention current incumbent contractors. Delivery is expected within 16-24 weeks after order receipt, with the performance location situated in Alexandria, VA 22315. The contract falls under NAICS category 541380 for Testing Laboratories and Services and PSC category 6650 for Optical Instruments and Components. While no explicit award value is specified, the technical complexity and specialized nature of the fast-scanning mirror suggest a potentially significant procurement. The primary point of contact for this opportunity is George Mitchell, who can be reached at 703-795-1010. Electronic invoicing will be required following equipment acceptance, and the vendor must be capable of meeting the stringent environmental and technical specifications outlined in the Description of Requirements document.
Notice text
The Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) requries a fast-scanning mirror for integration into a high-altitude airborne lidar sensor. The mirror will be operated in an extreme envioronment, and must be able to operate successfully within the environmental constraints and performance requirements as described in Table 1 in the Description of Requirements (DOR). These performance requirements are derived from modeling of the atmospheric conditions that will be encountered by the device.
