About this opportunity

The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Office of Acquisitions, issued a Special Notice on March 9, 2026, announcing its intention to award a sole source purchase order to Life Technologies Corporation for GeneTitan equipment maintenance services. The notice was published by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration under requisition number 26-000134. This action is being pursued under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), which permits single source procurement when appropriate circumstances exist. The contract period will run from April 10, 2026 through April 9, 2027. The NAICS classification for this procurement is 811310, Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Repair and Maintenance.

Life Technologies Corporation has been identified as the sole qualified source because they are the only authorized field service engineers permitted to open and service the GeneTitan Scanner, which contains no customer serviceable parts and requires specialized expertise to prevent injury, equipment damage, or warranty voidation. While the government intends to award directly to Life Technologies without competitive solicitation, all responsible sources are invited to submit capability statements for agency consideration, provided they have active SAM.GOV registrations. Interested parties were required to submit written capability statements by 10:00 AM on February 18, 2026, via email to Michael Gemmill and Caran Fizer at the NCI Office of Acquisitions; if no responsive capability statements were received by the deadline, the award would proceed to Life Technologies Corporation. The procurement falls under PSC category J049, addressing maintenance and repair of equipment.
