About this opportunity
The US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants seeks compressed gases, gas handling equipment, delivery services, hardware, accessories, and related supplies through a women-owned small business (WOSB) blanket purchase agreement with quotations due July 27, 2026 and questions due July 18.
Place of performance includes USGS facilities in Denver, Boulder, and Golden, Colorado. The five-year BPA runs from August 3, 2026 through August 2, 2031 with a not-to-exceed value of $499,000. Performance includes delivery of specialty gases in cylinders and dewars to four specified locations within one working day of order issuance (three working days for custom mixtures), Monday through Friday during specified business hours. The contractor must maintain an inventory control system using unique tracking numbers cross-referenced to serial numbers and USGS end-user control numbers, and provide empty container pick-up services at delivery or at least weekly. All cylinders must be pressure-tested and guaranteed free from defects and leaks; dewar leakage may not exceed 0.56 lbs/hr. The contractor must also coordinate with USGS, Colorado School of Mines, and the construction contractor to design and install two 3,000-gallon bulk gas storage tanks (nitrogen and argon) at the Energy and Minerals Research Facility in Golden, with installation beginning in August 2026. Installation must comply with NFPA 55 and ASME Section VIII.
Required gas specifications include acetylene (Grade A), compressed air (breathing grade, zero grade, and USP medical grade), argon (industrial grade and Grade 5 at 99.999% purity minimum), and specialized mixtures including CO2/Nitrogen and CO2/Helium blends. The NAICS code is 325120 (Industrial Gas Manufacturing); the small business size standard is 1,200 employees. Evaluation criteria are past performance and customer references, product availability and current capability, cylinder control and invoicing systems, and timeliness and safety including DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulatory compliance, three-year safety records, adequate staffing, and purity maintenance procedures.
