About this opportunity

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) is seeking to procure a Gel Imaging Documentation System through a firm-fixed-price commercial supplies purchase order. This is a brand-name requirement specifically for a ChemiDoc Go Imaging System that must operate without a computer, provide LED excitation capabilities, support specific data output formats, and maintain compatibility with Stain-Free Gels. The procurement includes multiple components such as the imaging system itself, UV safety shield, gel alignment kit, trays, viewing goggles, and related laboratory supplies. After conducting comprehensive market research across government and commercial sources, USDA determined that only the ChemiDoc Go Imaging System meets all their technical specifications. The contracting officer has signed justification to limit competition based on these unique system requirements, and quotes must be submitted by the date and time specified in the forthcoming request for quote.

This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, with small business distributors of Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. recommended as potential sources for the ChemiDoc Go system. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC code 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies). The brand name justification indicates this is a specialized laboratory equipment acquisition focused on a single product line due to technical requirements that cannot be met by alternative systems. The contractor's unit price must encompass all costs associated with furnishing, delivering materials, and performing all required work in a complete and acceptable manner. Following this pre-solicitation notice, a formal solicitation will be released and made available for download at www.sam.gov, with contractors responsible for monitoring the website for any amendments.
