About this file
This document is a Brand Name Justification form for a Gel Documentation System procurement by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), specifically for the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL). The agency requires a ChemiDoc Go Imaging System with specific technical requirements, including the ability to run without a computer, LED excitation capabilities, data output formats, and compatibility with Stain-Free Gels. After conducting market research across government and commercial sources, USDA determined that only the ChemiDoc Go Imaging System meets all their specifications. The procurement includes multiple components such as the imaging system, UV safety shield, gel alignment kit, trays, viewing goggles, and related laboratory supplies. Small business distributors of Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. are recommended as the source, and the justification is signed by the Contracting Officer to limit competition based on unique system requirements.
