About this opportunity
The United States Army Corps of Engineers Seattle District is seeking a construction contractor for a new Fire Station Bay Storage Area at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. The project involves building a 20,000 square foot facility designed to provide storage for fire emergency services equipment and trailers, with specific requirements including 10 trailer parking stalls, a dedicated foam storage room, an ABA-compliant restroom, wash bay, and utility support spaces. Potential contractors must demonstrate extensive experience in constructing fire emergency service facilities, specialized storage solutions, pre-engineered metal buildings, and work in remote or extreme climate locations. Critical qualifications include expertise in drilled pier and grade beam foundations, MILCON project compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection requirements, and proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) for documentation. Interested firms must submit a 3-4 page capabilities package by February 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM Pacific Time to Cassandra Gonzalez, with all respondents required to be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM).
The contract is not designated for any specific small business set-aside, though the NAICS code 236220 has a small business size standard of $45 million. The estimated project cost ranges between $5-10 million, and the contractor will be required to provide 100% payment and performance bonds. The project will require comprehensive construction capabilities, particularly in creating specialized military facility infrastructure that can withstand diverse environmental conditions. Contractors will need to demonstrate regional coverage, robust bonding capacity, and technical expertise in complex building construction. The facility's design emphasizes structural stability, logistical adaptability, and compliance with stringent Department of Defense construction standards. Submission of detailed capabilities demonstrating technical proficiency, business classification, and prior experience with similar military construction projects will be critical to being considered for this contract opportunity.
