About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service is seeking a contractor to install a new trail bridge at Horseshoe Creek in the Custer Gallatin National Forest's Beartooth Ranger District. The base contract requires the contractor to provide and install 2 sills and 20 diaphragms, remove existing sills, and install stringers with associated fasteners, while the government will furnish most bridge materials including stringers, decking, curb, and hardware. Optional items include complete bridge installation, deck and hardware installation, approach work, and new trail construction with approach grades no steeper than 30%. The government will evaluate offers based on best value, considering non-price factors equally important to price, including past performance information, experience in similar geographical conditions, and technical approach. Offers are due by 5:00 PM EDT on June 30, 2025, with questions accepted until June 20, 2025.
This procurement is designated as a total small business set-aside with an estimated project value between $100,000 and $250,000. The performance period spans from August 1, 2025, to September 15, 2026, allowing contractors over a year to complete the work in this remote wilderness location. The project is located approximately 16.2 miles from the Main Stillwater Trailhead in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness, requiring aviation support for material delivery due to the remote location. Contractors must have active SAM.gov registration and may be required to provide performance and payment bonds if the contract exceeds $150,000. The base items include 7 helicopter flight hours, and the bridge specifications call for a 49-foot span length with 36-inch overall width designed to support pedestrian and equipment loads.
