About this opportunity

This solicitation seeks proposals to provide three backup chillers for existing chillers supplying chilled water to all operating rooms at the Miami VA Medical Center. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 requires the backup chillers to address the critical condition of the existing chillers and lack of redundancy. Losing either of the two existing chillers would force shutdown of all operating rooms and patient care services. Phase one proposals are due by November 9, 2022, with any requests for information to be submitted by November 1, 2022 at 1:00PM. Evaluation criteria will include past performance and technical approach.

The set-aside is for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The project involves furnishing and installing three new outdoor chillers along with associated electrical, structural, testing and commissioning work. The place of performance is the Miami VA Medical Center located at Miami, FL 33125. The design phase is 120 calendar days followed by 245 days for construction. PSC codes related to the requirement include R499 for heating and cooling equipment. The solicitation aims to provide critical redundancy to prevent shutdown of the medical center's operating rooms.

Notice text

The project requires three (3) back up chillers for the existing Chiller 4 and Chiller 5 supplying chilled water to all existing Operating Room (OR) Rooms, located on the existing roof on the 3rd floor of the Miami VA Medical Center, building 1. The condition of the existing Chillers 4 and 5 is critical right now. There is no redundancy and if the Miami VA Medical Center (MVAMC) loses any of the existing chillers, the hospital will lose all the Operating Rooms. Losing any of these existing Chillers will automatically force a shutdown of Patient Care Services, preventing the Main Hospital form performing OR procedures.

Phase one Proposals due: 11/09/2022
