About this opportunity
This pre-solicitation notice seeks proposals for an emergency chiller redundancy project at the Miami VA Medical Center. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 requires furnishing and installing three new outdoor chillers, with two serving air handling units 1 and 2 and one serving units 1 and 7. Proposals must include design and construction services with a 120-day design phase and 145-day construction phase. Submissions are due by September 26, 2022 and will be evaluated based on technical requirements and formatting adherence as detailed in the request for proposal.
The opportunity is set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The project involves NAICS code 238220 - Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors and PSC code R499 - Engineering Services. No incumbent or current contractor is identified. The request for proposal did not include an estimated budget but indicated the need to minimize disruption to hospital operations during the replacement of the two existing chillers critical to operating room functions.
Notice text
Project requires three (3) back u chillers for the existing Chiller 4 and Chiller 5 supplying chilled water to all existing OR Rooms, located on the existing roof at the 3rd floor of the Miami VA Medical Center, building 1. The condition of the existing Chillers 4 and 5 are critical right now. There is no redundancy and if the MVAMC lose any of the exiting chiller, the hospital will lose all the Operating Rooms. Losing any of these existing Chillers will automatically force to shutdown Patient Care Services, preventing the Main Hospital form performing OR procedures.
