About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 22 has awarded a sole-source extension of contract 36C26226P1758 under a limited sources justification for non-emergency medical transportation services. The notice does not name the awardee or the amount. The attached justification summary lists a total award value of $198,485.00, and Network Contracting Office 22 is procuring the extension on behalf of the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (PVAHCS).
The justification relies on FAR 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services, because contract 36C26226P1758 expires October 31, 2026. The notice states that an interruption would critically impede VA's statutory obligations under 38 USC 111A and disrupt continuity of healthcare operations. The extension covers up to 3 months pending award and performance start of a competitively solicited long-term contract. The attachment summary cites Solicitation 36C26225R0080 and places the extension period at November 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027.
Services include pre-arranged, scheduled, unscheduled, and will-call door-to-door transportation from beneficiaries' apartments and homes and other areas designated by the Patient Travel Office, plus discharges from PVAHCS inpatient wards and the Emergency Department and transports to and from contracted nursing homes. Place of performance is Phoenix, Arizona. The contract is coded NAICS 485991 (Special Needs Transportation) and PSC V119. The Set Aside line reads "No Set-Aside Used." The attachment summary references SDVOSB market research, but that reference does not alter the no-set-aside designation.
Notice text
This is not a solicitation; no quotes are being requested, and none will be accepted.
Contract 36C26226P1758, which included FAR 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services, is set to expire on 10/31/2026. An interruption in essential medical transportation services would critically impede the VA’s ability to fulfill its statutory obligations under 38 USC 111A, disrupt continuity of healthcare operations, and potentially lead to regulatory noncompliance. Due to the urgent and compelling nature of this requirement, it is the best interest of the Government to extend services on the current contract, in accordance with FAR 52.217-8.
Non-Emergent Medical Transportation services are required by statute under 38 USC 111A. Services include pre-arranged, scheduled, unscheduled, and will call door-to-door service from beneficiary’s apartments and homes, and other areas designated by the Patient Travel Office (PTO) to get to and from scheduled medical appointments. It also includes discharges from PVAHCS inpatient wards, the Emergency Department, as well as transports to and from contracted nursing homes. This extension is needed to ensure regulatory compliance and continuity of mission critical services for up to 3 months, pending the award and performance start date of the competitively solicited long-term contract.
Awarded contract 36C26226P1758 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2026-10-29.
