About this opportunity

The Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has published a draft Supplement 512 to the USDA's Master Solicitation for the purchase of fish and fishery products for federal food and nutrition assistance programs. This supplement provides updated Federal Purchase Program Specifications (FPPS) for various frozen seafood items including Atlantic fish fillets, Pacific seafood, wild-caught shrimp, and walleye fillets.

The purpose of this draft supplement is to consolidate multiple previous FPPS documents into a single comprehensive specification and seek public comment prior to the August 2024 effective date. Key details include expanded domestic origin requirements with traceability, portion weight updates, packaging and labeling specifications, quality assurance procedures, and contractor checkloading responsibilities. Interested suppliers must submit a technical proposal for approval to be eligible for future USDA seafood contracts under this updated program.
