About this opportunity

The National Institute on Aging, a component of the National Institutes of Health within the Department of Health and Human Services, is soliciting proposals for the development and maintenance of a multigenotypic aged mouse colony to be used in aging research studies. The agency intends to award a single indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for a 10-year period beginning September 2022 to house the colony within controlled barrier environments, and to monitor and characterize the mice for disease status and genetic purity. Offerors must submit proposals by February 28, 2022, and the agency will evaluate submissions based on technical approach, past performance, and price.

There is no set-aside designation for this procurement. The incumbent contractor is Charles River Laboratories, performing under contract HHSN271201600001I. The estimated value of the contract ranges from a minimum of $814,268 to a maximum of $62,843,468 to be issued through cost reimbursement task orders over 10 years. The place of performance will be in Maryland. The contractor will be required to house at least 2,000 mice in the colony at any given time, separated into discrete aging segments, and distribute animals from the colony to investigators as directed by the agency.
