About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency intends to solicit a new Computed Tomography test system for the Mechanical Product Test Center in Columbus, Ohio, with responses due by June 19, 2026. No set-aside applies.

The CT system will enable the MPTC to test coatings, measure dimensions, and examine internal structures of finished parts and assemblies where technical requirements may be inaccessible after coating or assembly. The system must deliver a primary scan volume of at least 5.3 inches diameter by 6.7 inches, a high-magnification volume of at least 0.08 inches diameter by 0.3 inches, a high-resolution volume of at least 0.43 inches diameter by 0.59 inches, and minimum resolvable features less than 0.0004 inches. The equipment must be new (not refurbished), operate on standard 110V/20A power, and function without internet access or use government secure cloud-based software with permanent licensing. Delivery is due within 120 days of award.

Contractor deliverables include the CT inspection system with supporting hardware and software, on-site installation and setup, three days of on-site training for up to four participants, and a three-year preventative maintenance and calibration contract including consumables. The contractor must provide a 12-month warranty or standard OEM commercial warranty, whichever is greater. Contractor personnel must pass security vetting through the local security office no less than one week prior to service start. Installation, setup, and training are scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the contractor bearing all shipping costs to Columbus and trainer travel expenses.

Notice text

The Mechanical Product Test Center (MPTC) is looking to acquire a new CT
system. The new system will expand the lab’s capabilities to test coatings, measure
dimensions, and examine the internals of parts & assemblies.

The MPTC frequently receives test exhibits that are in the finished state including
having the coatings applied and assembly completed. Technical requirements on drawing
may be applicable before coatings were applied or may be inaccessible after assembly of
multiple components. The CT system will allow measurement through coatings to allow
dimensional inspection of coated exhibits, dimensional inspection of components in the
assembled configuration, inspection of the internal soundness of parts, and inspection of
the coatings themselves.
