About this opportunity
The National Park Service Intermountain Region seeks purchase and installation of Recruit HD (Sentricon) termite bait stations at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, with quotations due June 11, 2026. This is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS 561710 (Exterminating and Pest Control Services), with a brand-name restriction limiting competition to Sentricon systems.
Place of performance is Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico 88220. The contractor must install a minimum of 197 in-ground bait and monitoring stations around the perimeters of 18 buildings in the Historic District and at Rattlesnake Springs, encompassing approximately 6,034 linear feet. Three buildings (7, 25, and 59) have confirmed active termite infestations requiring targeted colony elimination. The brand-name restriction stems from the sensitive cave and karst environment; unlike conventional liquid soil termiticides, the Sentricon enclosed bait station system minimizes pesticide movement through soil and groundwater, reducing contamination risk to the underlying cavern system.
Period of performance runs from June 15, 2026 through June 14, 2027. The contract is firm fixed-price with a single lump-sum line item. All contractors must furnish labor, materials, equipment, and supervision; hold valid pesticide applicator licenses; provide certificates of insurance including pesticide pollution coverage ($100,000 per person / $500,000 per occurrence / $100,000 property damage); and submit reports documenting GPS-mapped station locations, monitoring inspections at 6 and 12 months, and bait replenishment activities.
Award is based on best value considering price, technical capability, and prior experience (at least two similar projects within the past five years). Service Contract Labor Standards apply. Quotations must be registered in SAM and submitted electronically to kiara_stewart@ios.doi.gov. Amendment 01, effective June 3, 2026, extended the quote due date and incorporated NPS responses to vendor RFIs addressing installation challenges including caliche and rocky substrate, utility coordination, and active infestation treatment scope.
