The anticipated construction contract has a cost limit of approximately $16,749,000, with the A/E design requiring multiple deductive bid alternates equal to at least 20% of the total construction cost. The project will involve creating 50 new parking spaces, designing a building supportive of potential future floor additions, and working with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency to incorporate specific design elements. The procurement will be a competitive, firm-fixed-price design contract issued under FAR part 36, with the solicitation planned for advertising in the 2024-2025 fiscal period. The VA Technology Acquisition Center in Austin will be responsible for managing this procurement, with the final socio-economic set-aside status dependent on the responses received during this market research phase.
