About this opportunity

This Special Notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs announces intent to award a sole source contract to Life Technologies Corporation. The James J. Peters Bronx VA Medical Center seeks to purchase a ThermoFisher Ion Torrent Genexus Integrated Sequencer, associated equipment, and training to support COVID-19 testing through the Pathology and Laboratory Service.

The Notice seeks to procure a sequencing platform and compatible consumables from Life Technologies as market research found them to be the only supplier able to meet the testing needs of the Pathology and Laboratory Service without disrupting established protocols or compromising result validity. Interested parties had until September 22, 2021 to identify their capability to fulfill requirements, though no competitive bidding process was contemplated given Life Technologies' sole ability to meet the medical center's criteria. The contract would provide an Ion Torrent Genexus Integrated Sequencer, various consumables and plates, installation, and training to establish COVID-19 testing capacity without changing testing standards or throughput.
