About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health issued a notice of intent to sole-source award a fixed-price service contract to AB Sciex LLC for annual maintenance of a SCIEX QTRAP 6500 mass spectrometer at the NIH Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory in Bethesda, Maryland, with a response deadline of November 5, 2026. This is a sole-source acquisition conducted under FAR Part 13 simplified acquisition procedures based on AB Sciex's status as the original equipment manufacturer; only SCIEX-certified engineers can service internal components, access proprietary parts and software patches, maintain firmware compatibility, and preserve the instrument's warranty. The FlexPlan service contract provides coverage for software, firmware, and hardware; guarantees two-business-day response times and 48-hour on-site response; preserves regulatory-grade validation support; and includes discounts on future upgrades and validation services. The notice indicates that a formal solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. Third-party vendors cannot replicate the OEM's capabilities or service level commitments and lack access to SCIEX OS upgrades required for ongoing compliance and operation.
